Why become a member? 

Members of the Hampton Sailing Club enjoy some great sailing benefits as well as access to our well situated clubhouse and facilities. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or just got the basic skills, you’ll appreciate the location, facilities and social functions that membership affords.

How to become a member 

There are a few steps to become a member at the Club.  It is in our Rules, but once you are a member it is worth the process.

Step 1 – Check out the Club

Before filling out any forms, you need to speak to a club committee member.  This can be face to face at the clubhouse, or by phone: 03 9598 6198.  (A Club member will answer the phone on Club sailing days – Sundays during the sailing season.  At other times leave a message and a committee member will call you back). 

We strongly recommend you visit the Club, introduce yourself and check out the location and the facilities available at Hampton Sailing Club.  A member will show you around and discuss the types of membership that the Club offers.

Step 2 – Fill in your application form 

The application form is located on the right hand side of this page.

Step 3 – Get your application nominated and seconded

This sounds a lot harder than it really is.  You can enter the name of the member who showed you around the clubhouse. A second member will be asked to sign the application form and then it will be posted on our New Membership Application notice board for two weeks. Please note that your application form cannot be accepted by the Club until it has been nominated and seconded.

Step 4 – Pay the nomination fee

Pay the non-refundable $100 nomination fee.  The application form itself details a number of methods of payment.

Step 5 – Your application is formally accepted 

When your nomination fee and application form is provided to the Club it is considered at the next committee meeting. This process may take up to 4 weeks.  You will be formally notified of your membership acceptance and sent an invoice for the subscription fees payment.

Step 6 – Pay the subscription fees invoice

Once you have paid the full subscription fees, you will be invited to a Club induction session and be able to arrange to collect a key to the premises.  Boat storage at the Club and other membership entitlements apply when an applicant has become a fully financial member.
